Research

SciREX program conducts three types of research as follows:

The competition-based funding is annually solicited by the Research Institute of Science and Technology for Society (RISTEX) with about Yen 5 million per year per project for up to 3 years. Three or 4 projects are funded per year after peer and panel reviews.

The coevolution research is to solve STI issues by co-working between government officials and SciREX researchers. Government officials and SciREX researchers select the themes and conduct research on several two-year projects or one-year feasibility projects. The government officials and the SciREX researchers coevolve by working together.

The basic research is carried at the SciREX Center as well as the SciREX core centers to begin study on emerging STI policy issues which may eventually develop into coevolution research or coevolution feasibility study in the next fiscal year.
