Abstract

Calbee, founded in 1949, is a top-ranking snack food manufacturer. The company has shown a good result of management reform by implementing continuous growth and high profitability. Mr. Akira Matsumoto, chairman of the company, played an important role for the reform. The reform of cost reduction, innovation, and organizational redesigning was based on the reform of work style. The company evolved from a long-standing "luke warm and sweet company" to "strict and sweet company."  The report traces the company's management reform history, focusing on the organizational and environmental designing such as women power and diversity, and how it has developed to show good results..
