+Call for Proposals for SciREX Competitive Projects
Japan Science and Technology Agency (RISTEX)
The 2021 version of the Call for Proposals for Competition-based SciREX Projects is announced. The call for proposals, review, and selection of the grantees will be made by RISTEX that focuses on S&T and Society under the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). RISTEX is one of the SciREX Program players.
As the 10th of its kind since 2011, the announcement lists up recommendation of research themes as follows:
1. Communication of research results in the policy formation process
2. Strategy to cope with declining birth rate
3. Promotion and adaptation of already-existing technologies in society and systems
4. Designing, management and evaluation of R&D programs
5. Social management of COVID-19 pandemic
6. Comprehensive evaluation of minimizing risks and economic losses under crisis management
7. Governance to enable fair and responsible R&D
8. Social impact of science, technology and innovation policies
9. Analyses of successful organizational efforts for industry-university-local area collaboration
Also, to be noted is that the 2021 call has two categories of Ordinary and Coevolution. The latter is needs-oriented research and conducted with government administrative policymakers.
Application period: April 2, 2021-April 22, 2021 12:00 NOON through e-Rad system
Duration of research: Up to 3.5 years (October 2021-March 2025)
Award direct cost: Up to Yen 4-6 (between 4 and 6) million per year for Ordinary projects; Yen 6-8 million per year for Coevolution projects
Reviews: Paper and interview
Number of awards: about FIVE for the Ordinary projects and a few for the Coevolution projects
