Outline | The Sixth STI Basic Plan recognizes that space technologies have played important roles in achieving the vision of “Society 5.0.” Space technologies are intended to enable a closer integration between outer space and cyberspace, especially through cooperation between public organizations and the industrial world. New trends in the aerospace field, such as earth observation and large-scale satellite groups for IoT, are indispensable for the success of more specific challenges to improve Japan’s maritime domain awareness capability, which is one of the major items of the Sixth STI Basic Plan, including the monitoring of climate change and improvement of the resilience of physical and digital infrastructure. This event is designed to analyze the Japanese government’s recent policy initiatives regarding aerospace innovation, in order to contribute to achieving the goal of the Sixth STI Basic Plan. Furthermore, we will delve into the collaboration between the latest revised edition of the Basic Plan for Space Policy (2021) and the Third Basic Plan on Ocean Policy (2018). |
