The Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policies are at a turning point. The STI policies now cover the areas beyond the S&T promotion to cope with the societal change brought by the rapid development of digital technologies and include SDGs that try to solve complex and diverse social issues. It is now essential for the STI polices to have participation by and co-creation with various stakeholders. Most recently, the new corona virus pandemic posed a number of issues to be shared not only among the experts but also among the public as seen in communication and mutual reliance between policies and science and the importance of evidence-based policy decisions. The post-corona pandemic days will face new development different from the previous S&T promotion, human resources development, and the diversity of science community. What are needed for STI policies? How the relationship between policies and science should evolve? These issues will be discussed from various angles through the 11 ZOOM seminar sessions of the SciREX Open Forum, including introduction of the domestic and international trends surrounding the science policies as well as the activities of the SciREX Program that is being funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
