Outline

Along with the complexities and deepening of the social issues that accompany the recent rapid S&T development, more and more expectations are put on the interdisciplinary research. This seminar will focus on discussions based on the updated data on the scientific and policymaking meaning of the interdisciplinary research as follows:

Part 1: Overview of the interdisplinary research: meaning and motivation and where it is in the S&T policies
Part 2: Introduction of recent research results as to the impacts and effects of interdisciplinary research
Part 3: Introduction of the current "knowlede" production activities in the world, the current high impact interdisciplinary research areas, and the visualization method of their international presence.

Parts 2-3 are based on the speaker's paper "Interdisciplinarity revisited: Evidence for research impact and dynamism. Palgrave Commun 5, 141 (2019)"
