Outline

The budget for the Kakenhi (Grants-in-aid for Scientific Research) system has reached as much as Yen 240 billion, the biggest cuiriosity-driven research fund provided by MEXT. To manage the system properly, it is important to quantitatively measure the results coming out from the system and examine the system.

The seminar will compare the Kakenhi system with other Japanese research aid systems, clarify the system's relation with Japan's S&T Basic Plan, present the application number, successful proposal number, and allocation of the fund, and show the relation between them. Further, the seminar will analyze the data by  gender, age, and scientific field, and show a prediction in the future and discuss how the system should be.
