Outline | Emerging science and technology greatly benefit our society, but on the other hand, it poses us “questions” that cannot be answered with the traditional value standards. Examples include iPS technologies that create a human organ within an animal’s body, and artificial sperms and ova. The patients who are waiting for transplantation and couples who are undergoing infertility treatment would appreciate such technologies, but they bear concerns of animal’s being humanized, or creation of designed babies. There should be no simple answers, but we would like to think how to live with such new technologies through discussions. |
